Nowwhen daycame,the chief magistratessenttheir policemen,saying,"Releasethosemen."
They took his advice;and after callingthe apostlesin, they floggedthem and orderedthem not to speakin the nameof Jesus,and [then] releasedthem.
When they had threatened them further,they let them go(findingno basison which to punishthem) on accountof the people,becausethey were allglorifyingGodfor what had happened;
Do you not fearMe?' declaresthe LORD.'Do you not tremblein My presence?For I have placedthe sandas a boundaryfor the sea,An eternaldecree,so it cannotcrossoverit. Though the wavestoss,yet they cannotprevail;Though they roar,yet they cannotcrossoverit.
For the wrathof manshall praiseYou; With a remnantof wrathYou will girdYourself.
"Whenthey bringyou beforethe synagoguesand the rulersand the authorities,do not worryabout howorwhatyou are to speak in your defense,orwhatyou are to say;
And he broughtthem into his houseand setfoodbeforethem, and rejoiced greatly,having believedin Godwith his whole household.
And the jailerreportedthesewordsto Paul,[saying], "The chief magistrateshave sentto releaseyou. Thereforecomeout nowand goin peace."
The policemenreportedthesewordsto the chief magistrates.They were afraidwhen they heardthat they were Romans,
So Joshuacommandedthe priests,saying,"Comeup from the Jordan."
