But motioningto them with his handto be silent,he describedto them howthe Lordhad ledhim out of the prison.And he said,"Reportthese thingsto Jamesand the brethren."Thenhe leftand wentto anotherplace.
Who executesjusticefor the oppressed;Who givesfoodto the hungry.The LORDsetsthe prisonersfree.
Come[and] hear,allwho fearGod,And I will tellof whatHe has donefor my soul.
"But wheneverthey persecuteyou in onecity,fleeto the next;for trulyI sayto you, you will not finish[going through] the citiesof Israeluntilthe Sonof Mancomes.
"Is not thisthe carpenter,the sonof Mary,and brotherof Jamesand Josesand Judasand Simon?Are not His sistersherewith us?" And they took offenseat Him.
But when he cameout, he was unableto speakto them; and they realizedthat he had seena visionin the temple;and he kept making signsto them, and remainedmute.
And He went awayagainbeyondthe Jordanto the placewhereJohnwas firstbaptizing,and He was stayingthere.
ThereforeJesusno longercontinued to walkpubliclyamongthe Jews,but went awayfrom thereto the countrynearthe wilderness,into a citycalledEphraim;and thereHe stayedwith the disciples.
SoSimonPetergesturedto him, and saidto him, "Tell[us] whoit is of whomHe is speaking."
Afterthese thingsJesuswas walkingin Galilee,for He was unwillingto walkin Judeabecausethe Jewswere seekingto killHim.
Thereforethey pickedup stonesto throwat Him, but JesushidHimself and wentout of the temple.
At thistimePeterstoodup in the midstof the brethren(a gatheringof aboutone hundredand twentypersonswas there together),and said,
But Petercontinuedknocking;and when they had opened[the door], they sawhim and were amazed.
Nowwhen daycame,there was nosmalldisturbanceamongthe soldiers[as to] whatcould have becomeof Peter.
Paulstoodup, and motioningwith his handsaid,"Menof Israel,and you who fearGod,listen:
Afterthey had stopped speaking,Jamesanswered,saying,"Brethren,listento me.
They wentout of the prisonand entered[the house of] Lydia,and when they sawthe brethren,they encouragedthem and departed.
Some of the crowdconcluded[it was] Alexander,since the Jewshad put him forward;and having motionedwith his hand,Alexanderwas intendingto make a defenseto the assembly.
And the followingday Paulwentin with us to James,and allthe elderswere present.
When he had given him permission,Paul,standingon the stairs,motionedto the peoplewith his hand;and when there was a greathush,he spoketo them in the Hebrewdialect,saying,
And the brethren,when they heardaboutus, camefrom thereas faras the Marketof Appiusand ThreeInnsto meetus; and when Paulsawthem, he thankedGodand tookcourage.
thenHe appearedto James,thento allthe apostles;
But I did not seeany otherof the apostlesexceptJames,the Lord'sbrother.
For priorto the comingof certain menfrom James,he used to eatwith the Gentiles;but whenthey came,he [began] to withdrawand holdhimselfaloof,fearingthe party of the circumcision.
and recognizingthe gracethat had been givento me, Jamesand Cephasand John,who were reputedto be pillars,gaveto me and Barnabasthe right handof fellowship,sothat we [might] [go] to the Gentilesand they to the circumcised.
James,a bond-servantof Godand of the LordJesusChrist,To the twelvetribeswhoare dispersedabroad: Greetings.
