Abishai,the brotherof Joab,the sonof Zeruiah,was chiefof the thirty.And he swunghis spearagainstthreehundredand killed[them], and had a nameas well as the three.
But the remainderof the peoplehe placedin the handof Abishaihis brother,and he arrayed[them] againstthe sonsof Ammon.
When the sonsof Ammonsawthat the Arameansfled,they [also] fledbeforeAbishaiand enteredthe city.Then Joabreturnedfrom [fighting] againstthe sonsof Ammonand cameto Jerusalem.
Davidsentthe peopleout, one thirdunder the commandof Joab,one thirdunder the commandof Abishaithe sonof Zeruiah,Joab'sbrother,and one thirdunder the commandof Ittaithe Gittite.And the kingsaidto the people,"I myselfwill surelygoout with you also."
Now the threesonsof Zeruiahwere there,Joaband Abishaiand Asahel;and Asahel[was] [as] swift-footedas oneof the gazelleswhichis in the field.
But Amasawas not on guardagainst the swordwhichwas in Joab'shandso he struckhim in the bellywith it and pouredout his inwardpartson the ground,and did not [strike] him again,and he died.Then Joaband Abishaihis brotherpursuedShebathe sonof Bichri.
He was mosthonoredof the thirty,therefore he becametheir commander;however, he did not attainto the three.
So Joaband Abishaihis brotherkilledAbnerbecausehe had puttheir brotherAsahelto deathin the battleat Gibeon.
and their sisters[were] Zeruiahand Abigail.And the threesonsof Zeruiah[were] Abshai,Joaband Asahel.
And ifonecan overpowerhim whois alone, twocan resisthim. A cordof three[strands] is not quicklytornapart.
