"The LORDhas returnedupon you allthe bloodshedof the houseof Saul,in whoseplaceyou have reigned;and the LORDhas giventhe kingdominto the handof your sonAbsalom.And behold,you are [taken] in your own evil,for you are a manof bloodshed!"
Davidsaidto him, "Your bloodis on your head,for your mouthhas testifiedagainst you, saying,'I have killedthe LORD'Sanointed.'"
So he saidto the king,"Let not my lordconsiderme guilty,norrememberwhatyour servantdidwrongon the daywhenmy lordthe kingcameout from Jerusalem,so that the kingwould take[it] to heart.
But Abishaithe sonof Zeruiahsaid,"Should not Shimeibe putto deathfor this,becausehe cursedthe LORD'Sanointed?"
Now there was a faminein the daysof Davidfor threeyears,yearafteryear;and Davidsoughtthe presenceof the LORD.And the LORDsaid,"It is for Sauland his bloodyhouse,becausehe putthe Gibeonitesto death."
Then he gavethem into the handsof the Gibeonites,and they hangedthem in the mountainbeforethe LORD,so that the sevenof them felltogether;and they were putto deathin the firstdaysof harvestat the beginningof barleyharvest.
"Behold,there is with you Shimeithe sonof Gerathe Benjamite,of Bahurim;now it was he who cursedme with a violentcurseon the dayI wentto Mahanaim.But when he camedownto me at the Jordan,I sworeto him by the LORD,saying,'I will not putyou to deathwith the sword.'
Manyare sayingof my soul,"Thereis nodeliverancefor him in God."Selah.
O sonsof men,howlongwill my honorbecome a reproach?[How long] will you lovewhatis worthlessand aimat deception?Selah.
Becauseof the voiceof the enemy,Becauseof the pressureof the wicked;For they bringdowntroubleupon me And in angerthey beara grudgeagainstme.
IfI have rewardedevilto my friend,Or have plunderedhim who withoutcausewas my adversary,
Like a sparrowin [its] flitting,like a swallowin [its] flying,Soa cursewithoutcausedoes not alight.
for they pouredout the bloodof saintsand prophets,and You have giventhem bloodto drink.They deserveit."
so that the violencedone to the seventysonsof Jerubbaalmight come,and their bloodmight be laidon Abimelechtheir brother,whokilledthem, and on the menof Shechem,whostrengthenedhis handsto killhis brothers.
