But Amnonhad a friendwhose namewas Jonadab,the sonof Shimeah,David'sbrother;and Jonadabwas a veryshrewdman.
Jonadabthen saidto him, "Liedownon your bedand pretendto be ill;when your fathercomesto seeyou, sayto him, 'Pleaselet my sisterTamarcomeand give me [some] foodto eat,and let her preparethe foodin my sight,that I may see[it] and eatfrom her hand.'"
But Jezebelhis wifecameto him and saidto him, "Howis it that your spiritis so sullenthat you are not eatingfood?"
Jezebelhis wifesaidto him, "Do you nowreignoverIsrael?Arise,eatbread,and let your heartbe joyful;I will giveyou the vineyardof Naboththe Jezreelite."
The expressionof their facesbearswitnessagainst them, And they displaytheir sinlike Sodom;They do not [even] conceal[it]. Woeto them! For they have broughtevilon themselves.
"Were they ashamedbecauseof the abominationthey had done?They certainlywere not ashamed,And they did not knowhow to blush;Thereforethey shall fallamong those who fall;At the timeof their punishmentthey shall be broughtdown,"Saysthe LORD.
The nakednessof your sister,[either] your father'sdaughteroryour mother'sdaughter,whether bornat homeorbornoutside,their nakednessyou shall not uncover.
If [there is] a manwhotakeshis sister,his father'sdaughterorhis mother'sdaughter,so that he seesher nakednessand she seeshis nakedness,it is a disgrace;and they shall be cutoffin the sightof the sonsof their people.He has uncoveredhis sister'snakedness;he bearshis guilt.
Concerningevil,both handsdoit well.The princeasks,also the judge,for a bribe,And a greatmanspeaksthe desireof his soul;So they weaveit together.
