Now Absalomhad fled.And the youngmanwho was the watchmanraisedhis eyesand looked,and behold,manypeoplewere comingfrom the roadbehindhim by the sideof the mountain.
As soon as he had finishedspeaking,behold,the king'ssonscameand liftedtheir voicesand wept;and alsothe kingand allhis servantsweptverybitterly.
The womansaid,"Whythen have you plannedsucha thingagainstthe peopleof God?For in speakingthiswordthe kingis as onewhois guilty,[in that] the kingdoes not bringbackhis banishedone.
So Joabaroseand wentto Geshurand broughtAbsalomto Jerusalem.
AbsalomansweredJoab,"Behold,I sentfor you, saying,'Comehere,that I may sendyou to the king,to say,"Whyhave I comefrom Geshur?It would be betterfor me stillto be there."'Nowtherefore, let me seethe king'sface,and ifthereis iniquityin me, let him putme to death."
