And Jehudrewhis bowwith his fullstrengthand shotJorambetweenhis arms;and the arrowwentthroughhis heartand he sankin his chariot.
"It shall comeabout, the one who escapesfrom the swordof Hazael,Jehushall putto death,and the one who escapesfrom the swordof Jehu,Elishashall putto death.
"Do you seehowAhabhas humbledhimself beforeMe? Becausehe has humbledhimself beforeMe, I will not bringthe evilin his days,[but] I will bringthe evilupon his housein his son'sdays."
Now a certain mandrewhis bowat randomand struckthe kingof Israelin a jointof the armor.So he saidto the driverof his chariot,"Turnaroundand takeme out of the fight;for I amseverelywounded."
The battleragedthat day,and the kingwas proppedup in his chariotin frontof the Arameans,and diedat evening,and the bloodfrom the woundraninto the bottomof the chariot.
But they fearedgreatlyand said,"Behold,the twokingsdid not standbeforehim; howthen can we stand?"
Now in the morninghe wentout and stoodand saidto allthe people,"You are innocent;behold,I conspiredagainstmy masterand killedhim, but whokilledallthese?
"Nowconsiderthis,you who forgetGod,OrI will tear[you] in pieces, and therewill be noneto deliver.
Thereis nowisdomand nounderstandingAnd nocounselagainstthe LORD.
"And one will sayto him, 'Whatare thesewoundsbetweenyour arms?'Then he will say,'[Those] with whichI was woundedin the houseof my friends.'
Whilethey are saying,"Peaceand safety!"thendestructionwill comeupon them suddenlylikelabor painsupon a woman with child,and they will not escape.
