There was a greatfaminein Samaria;and behold,they besiegedit, untila donkey'sheadwas soldfor eighty[shekels] of silver,and a fourthof a kabof dove'sdungfor five[shekels] of silver.
So when allthe landof Egyptwas famished,the peoplecriedout to Pharaohfor bread;and Pharaohsaidto allthe Egyptians,"Goto Joseph;whateverhe saysto you, you shall do."
So Elijahwentto showhimself to Ahab.Now the famine[was] severein Samaria.
On the ninthday of the [fourth] monththe faminewas so severein the citythat there was nofoodfor the peopleof the land.
As the kingof Israelwas passingby on the walla womancriedout to him, saying,"Help,my lord,O king!"
Then the kingarosein the nightand saidto his servants,"I will nowtellyou whatthe Arameanshave doneto us. They knowthat we are hungry;therefore they have gonefrom the campto hidethemselves in the field,saying,'Whenthey comeout of the city,we will capturethem aliveand getinto the city.'"
"Ifwe say,'We will enterthe city,'then the famineis in the cityand we will diethere;and ifwe sithere,we diealso. Nowtherefore come,and let us gooverto the campof the Arameans.Ifthey spareus, we will live;and ifthey killus, we will but die."
IfI goout to the country,Behold,those slainwith the sword!Or ifI enterthe city,Behold,diseasesof famine!For bothprophetand priestHave gone rovingaboutin the landthat they do not know.'"
Behold,the siegerampshave reachedthe cityto takeit; and the cityis giveninto the handof the Chaldeanswho fightagainstit, becauseof the sword,the famineand the pestilence;and whatYou have spokenhas cometo pass;and behold,You see[it].
On the ninth[day] of the fourthmonththe faminewas so severein the citythat there was nofoodfor the peopleof the land.
becausebreadand waterwill be scarce;and they will be appalledwith oneanotherand wasteawayin their iniquity.
When I breakyour staffof bread,tenwomenwill bakeyour breadin oneoven,and they will bringbackyour breadin rationedamounts,so that you will eatand not be satisfied.
