So the kingof Israelwentwith the kingof Judahand the kingof Edom;and they madea circuitof sevendays'journey,and there was nowaterfor the armyor for the cattlethat followedthem.
and say,'Thussaysthe king,"Putthisman in prisonand feedhim sparinglywith breadand wateruntilI returnsafely."'"
Now therewas nokingin Edom;a deputywas king.
Jehoshaphatmadeshipsof Tarshishto goto Ophirfor gold,but they did not gofor the shipswere brokenat Ezion-geber.
Now Jehoramthe sonof AhabbecamekingoverIsraelat Samariain the eighteenthyearof Jehoshaphatkingof Judah,and reignedtwelveyears.
Then the kingof Israelsaid,"Alas!For the LORDhas calledthesethreekingsto givethem into the handof Moab."
Then he wentand sent[word] to Jehoshaphatthe kingof Judah,saying,"The kingof Moabhas rebelledagainst me. Will you gowith me to fightagainstMoab?"And he said,"I will goup; I am as you are, my peopleas your people,my horsesas your horses."
He said,"Whichwayshall we goup?" And he answered,"The wayof the wildernessof Edom."
In his daysEdomrevoltedfrom underthe handof Judah,and madea kingoverthemselves.
"Alltheseyour servantswill comedownto me and bowthemselves before me, saying,'Goout, you and allthe peoplewhofollowyou,' and afterthat I will goout." And he wentout from Pharaohin hotanger.
Then MosesledIsraelfrom the RedSea,and they wentout into the wildernessof Shur;and they wentthreedaysin the wildernessand foundnowater.
Then allthe congregationof the sonsof Israeljourneyedby stagesfrom the wildernessof Sin,accordingto the commandof the LORD,and campedat Rephidim,and therewas nowaterfor the peopleto drink.
There was nowaterfor the congregation,and they assembledthemselves againstMosesand Aaron.
"Whythen have you broughtthe LORD'Sassemblyinto thiswilderness,for us and our beaststo diehere?
The peoplespokeagainst Godand Moses,"Whyhave you broughtus up out of Egyptto diein the wilderness?For thereis nofoodand nowater,and we loathethis miserablefood."
They journeyedfrom Alushand campedat Rephidim;now it was therethat the peoplehadnowaterto drink.
