Elishasaw[it] and criedout, "My father,my father,the chariotsof Israeland its horsemen!"And he sawElijah nomore.Then he tookholdof his own clothesand torethem in twopieces.
So Jacobtorehis clothes,and putsackclothon his loinsand mournedfor his sonmanydays.
Enochwalkedwith God;and he was not, for Godtookhim.
When Elishabecamesickwith the illnessof whichhe was to die,Joashthe kingof Israelcamedownto him and weptoverhim and said,"My father,my father,the chariotsof Israeland its horsemen!"
He also tookup the mantleof Elijahthat fellfrom him and returnedand stoodby the bankof the Jordan.
Then his servantscamenearand spoketo him and said,"My father,had the prophettoldyou [to do some] greatthing,would you not have done[it]? Howmuchmore[then], whenhe saysto you, 'Wash,and be clean'?"
Then the kingof Israelwhen he sawthem, saidto Elisha,"My father,shall I killthem? Shall I killthem?"
"He will deliverone who is not innocent,And he will be deliveredthrough the cleannessof your hands."
By the blessingof the uprighta cityis exalted,But by the mouthof the wickedit is torndown.
Whohas ascendedinto heavenand descended?Whohas gatheredthe windin His fists?Whohas wrappedthe watersin His garment?Whohas establishedallthe endsof the earth?Whatis His nameor His son'sname?Surelyyou know!
Wisdomstrengthensa wisemanmorethantenrulerswhoare in a city.
Hezekiahprayedto the LORDsaying,
Then Isaiahthe sonof Amozsent[word] to Hezekiah,saying,"Thussaysthe LORD,the Godof Israel,'Becauseyou have prayedto Me aboutSennacheribkingof Assyria,
Perhapsthe LORDyour Godwill hearthe wordsof Rabshakeh,whomhis masterthe kingof Assyriahas sentto reproachthe livingGod,and will rebukethe wordswhichthe LORDyour Godhas heard.Therefore, offera prayerfor the remnantthat is left.'"
So then,when the LordJesushad spokento them, He was receivedup into heavenand sat downat the right handof God.
Whenthe angelshad gone awayfrom them into heaven,the shepherds[began] sayingto one another,"Let us go straightto Bethlehemthen,and seethisthingthat has happenedwhichthe Lordhas made knownto us."
WhileHe was blessingthem, He parted from them and was carriedup into heaven.
"No onehas ascendedinto heaven,but He who descendedfrom heaven:the Sonof Man.
And after He had saidthese things,He was liftedup while they were lookingon, and a cloudreceivedHim out of their sight.
saying,'Do not be afraid,Paul;you muststand beforeCaesar;and behold,Godhas grantedyou allthosewho are sailingwith you.'
[Some] devoutmenburiedStephen,and madeloudlamentationoverhim.
For indeedin this[house] we groan,longingto be clothedwith our dwellingfrom heaven,
For indeedwhile we are in thistent,we groan,being burdened,becausewe do not wantto be unclothedbut to be clothed,sothat what is mortalwill be swallowedup by life.
Thereforeit says,"WHEN HE ASCENDEDON HIGH,HE LED CAPTIVEA HOST OF CAPTIVES,AND HE GAVEGIFTSTO MEN."
And they hearda loudvoicefrom heavensayingto them, "Comeup here."Thenthey wentup into heavenin the cloud,and their enemieswatchedthem.
Micahthen saidto him, "Dwellwith me and be a fatherand a priestto me, and I will giveyou ten[pieces] of silvera year,a suitof clothes,and your maintenance."So the Levitewent[in].
