Then he sentEliakimwhowas overthe householdwith Shebnathe scribeand the eldersof the priests,coveredwith sackcloth,to Isaiahthe prophetthe sonof Amoz.
Then Davidsaidto Joaband to allthe peoplewhowere with him, "Tearyour clothesand girdon sackclothand lamentbeforeAbner."And KingDavidwalkedbehindthe bier.
When they sawthat there was muchmoneyin the chest,the king'sscribeand the highpriestcameup and tied[it] in bags and countedthe moneywhich was foundin the houseof the LORD.
When they calledto the king,Eliakimthe sonof Hilkiah,whowas overthe household,and Shebnahthe scribeand Joahthe sonof Asaphthe recorder,cameout to them.
They saidto him, "ThussaysHezekiah,'Thisdayis a dayof distress,rebuke,and rejection;for childrenhave cometo birthand thereis nostrengthto [deliver].
Now the restof the actsof Uzziah,firstto last,the prophetIsaiah,the sonof Amoz,has written.
The visionof Isaiahthe sonof AmozconcerningJudahand Jerusalem,whichhe sawduring the reignsof Uzziah,Jotham,Ahaz[and] Hezekiah,kingsof Judah.
The wordwhichIsaiahthe sonof AmozsawconcerningJudahand Jerusalem.
Thussaysthe LORD,"Goand buya potter'searthenwarejar,and [take] someof the eldersof the peopleand someof the seniorpriests.
Yet the kingand allhis servantswho heardallthesewordswere not afraid,nordid they rendtheir garments.
[This was] to fulfillwhatwas spokenthroughIsaiahthe prophet:
as it is writtenin the bookof the wordsof Isaiahthe prophet,"THE VOICEOF ONE CRYINGIN THE WILDERNESS,'MAKE READYTHE WAYOF THE LORD,MAKEHIS PATHSSTRAIGHT.
