So Urijahthe priestbuiltan altar;according to allthat KingAhazhad sentfrom Damascus,thusUrijahthe priestmade[it], beforethe comingof KingAhazfrom Damascus.
Now KingAhazwentto Damascusto meetTiglath-pileserkingof Assyria,and sawthe altarwhich[was] at Damascus;and KingAhazsentto Urijahthe priestthe patternof the altarand its model,according to allits workmanship.
When the kingcamefrom Damascus,the kingsawthe altar;then the kingapproachedthe altarand wentup to it,
The bronzealtar,which[was] beforethe LORD,he broughtfrom the frontof the house,from between[his] altarand the houseof the LORD,and he putit on the northsideof [his] altar.
So Urijahthe priestdidaccording to allthat KingAhazcommanded.
He builtaltarsin the houseof the LORD,of whichthe LORDhad said,"In JerusalemI will putMy name."
Then he setthe carvedimageof Asherahthat he had made,in the houseof whichthe LORDsaidto Davidand to his sonSolomon,"In thishouseand in Jerusalem,whichI have chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israel,I will putMy nameforever.
He builtaltarsin the houseof the LORDof whichthe LORDhad said,"My nameshall be in Jerusalemforever."
"And I will taketo Myself faithfulwitnessesfor testimony,Uriahthe priestand Zechariahthe sonof Jeberechiah."
"For bothprophetand priestare polluted;Evenin My houseI have foundtheir wickedness,"declaresthe LORD.
"Her priestshave doneviolenceto My lawand have profanedMy holythings;they have madenodistinctionbetweenthe holyand the profane,and they have not taughtthe difference betweenthe uncleanand the clean;and they hidetheir eyesfrom My sabbaths,and I am profanedamongthem.
Thereforeat that time,whenallthe peoplesheardthe soundof the horn,flute,lyre,trigon,psaltery,bagpipeand allkindsof music,allthe peoples,nationsand [men of every] languagefelldown[and] worshipedthe goldenimagethat Nebuchadnezzarthe kinghad setup.
My peopleare destroyedfor lackof knowledge.Becauseyou have rejectedknowledge,I also will rejectyou from being My priest.Since you have forgottenthe lawof your God,I alsowill forgetyour children.
Ephraimis oppressed,crushedin judgment,Becausehe was determinedto follow[man's] command.
For am I nowseeking the favorof men,orof God?Oram I strivingto pleasemen?IfI were stilltrying to pleasemen,I would not be a bond-servantof Christ.
