So you will findfavorand goodreputeIn the sightof Godand man.
"But they doalltheir deedsto be noticedby men;for they broadentheir phylacteriesand lengthenthe tassels[of their garments].
"Let your lightshinebeforemenin such a waythat they may seeyour goodworks,and glorifyyour Fatherwho is in heaven.
"Bewareof practicingyour righteousnessbeforemento be noticedby them; otherwiseyou havenorewardwith your Fatherwhois in heaven.
sothat your givingwill be in secret;and your Fatherwho sees[what is done] in secretwill rewardyou.
Neverpay backevilfor evilto anyone.Respectwhat is rightin the sightof allmen.
For he who in this[way] servesChristis acceptableto Godand approvedby men.
For we are not likemany,peddlingthe wordof God,but as from sincerity,but as from God,we speakin Christin the sightof God.
taking precautionso that noonewill discreditus in our administrationof thisgenerous gift;
We have sentwith them our brother,whomwe have oftentestedand founddiligentin manythings,but noweven morediligentbecause of [his] greatconfidencein you.
Finally,brethren,whateveris true,whateveris honorable,whateveris right,whateveris pure,whateveris lovely,whateveris of good repute,ifthere is anyexcellenceand ifanythingworthy of praise,dwellon these things.
abstainfrom everyformof evil.
And he musthavea goodreputationwith thoseoutside[the church], sothat he will not fallinto reproachand the snareof the devil.
Therefore,I wantyounger[widows] to get married,bear children,keep house,[and] givethe enemynooccasionfor reproach;
Keepyour behaviorexcellentamongthe Gentiles,sothat in the thing in whichthey slanderyou as evildoers,they may becauseof your gooddeeds,as they observe[them], glorifyGodin the dayof visitation.
So she layat his feetuntilmorningand rosebeforeonecould recognizeanother;and he said,"Let it not be knownthat the womancameto the threshingfloor."
