When they were bringingout the moneywhich had been broughtinto the houseof the LORD,Hilkiahthe priestfoundthe bookof the lawof the LORD[given] by Moses.
When they calledto the king,Eliakimthe sonof Hilkiah,whowas overthe household,and Shebnahthe scribeand Joahthe sonof Asaphthe recorder,cameout to them.
When the kingdomof Rehoboamwas establishedand strong,he and allIsraelwith him forsookthe lawof the LORD.
Also he commandedthe peoplewho livedin Jerusalemto givethe portiondue to the priestsand the Levites,that they might devotethemselves to the lawof the LORD.
Hilkiahrespondedand saidto Shaphanthe scribe,"I have foundthe bookof the lawin the houseof the LORD."And Hilkiahgavethe bookto Shaphan.
They cameto Hilkiahthe highpriestand deliveredthe moneythat was broughtinto the houseof God,whichthe Levites,the doorkeepers,had collectedfrom Manassehand Ephraim,and from allthe remnantof Israel,and from allJudahand Benjaminand the inhabitantsof Jerusalem.
Now the restof the actsof Josiahand his deedsof devotionas writtenin the lawof the LORD,
For Ezrahad sethis heartto studythe lawof the LORDand to practice[it], and to teach[His] statutesand ordinancesin Israel.
But his delightis in the lawof the LORD,And in His lawhe meditatesdayand night.
For thisis a rebelliouspeople,false~sons,Sonswho refuseto listenTo the instructionof the LORD;
Therefore,as a tongueof fireconsumesstubbleAnd drygrasscollapsesinto the flame,So their rootwill becomelike rotand their blossomblowawayas dust;For they have rejectedthe lawof the LORDof hostsAnd despisedthe wordof the HolyOneof Israel.
"Howcan you say,'We are wise,And the lawof the LORDis with us'? But behold,the lyingpenof the scribesHas made[it] into a lie.
and so as to teachthe sonsof Israelallthe statuteswhichthe LORDhas spokento them throughMoses."
Theseare the statutesand ordinancesand lawswhichthe LORDestablishedbetweenHimself and the sonsof IsraelthroughMosesat MountSinai.
Thus Aaronand his sonsdidallthe thingswhichthe LORDhad commandedthroughMoses.
Whenthey had performedeverythingaccordingto the Lawof the Lord,they returnedto Galilee,to their owncityof Nazareth.
"Thisbookof the lawshall not departfrom your mouth,but you shall meditateon it dayand night,sothat you may be carefulto doaccording to allthat is writtenin it; for thenyou will makeyour wayprosperous,and thenyou will havesuccess.
