Godhelpedhim againstthe Philistines,and againstthe Arabianswho livedin Gur-baal,and the Meunites.
Then the Spiritcameupon Amasai,who was the chiefof the thirty,[and he said], "[We] are yours, O David,And with you, O sonof Jesse!Peace,peaceto you, And peaceto him who helpsyou; Indeed,your Godhelpsyou!" Then Davidreceivedthem and madethem captainsof the band.
These,recordedby name,camein the daysof Hezekiahkingof Judah,and attackedtheir tentsand the Meuniteswhowere foundthere,and destroyedthem utterlyto thisday,and livedin their place,becausethere was pasturetherefor their flocks.
They were helpedagainstthem, and the Hagritesand allwho [were] with them were giveninto their hand;for they criedout to Godin the battle,and He answeredtheir prayersbecausethey trustedin Him.
For manyfellslain,becausethe war[was] of God.And they settledin their placeuntilthe exile.
So Asawentout to meethim, and they drewup in battleformationin the valleyof Zephathahat Mareshah.
Then Asacalledto the LORDhis Godand said,"LORD,thereis noonebesidesYou to help[in the battle] betweenthe powerfuland those who havenostrength;so helpus, O LORDour God,for we trustin You, and in Your namehave comeagainstthismultitude.O LORD,You are our God;let not manprevailagainstYou."
Someof the Philistinesbroughtgiftsand silveras tributeto Jehoshaphat;the Arabiansalsobroughthim flocks,7700ramsand 7,700malegoats.
Now it cameabout afterthisthat the sonsof Moaband the sonsof Ammon,togetherwith someof the Meunites,cameto make waragainstJehoshaphat.
Then the LORDstirredup againstJehoramthe spiritof the Philistinesand the Arabswhoborderedthe Ethiopians;
"But ifyou do go,do[it], be strongfor the battle;[yet] Godwill bringyou downbeforethe enemy,for Godhaspowerto helpand to bringdown."
For by You I can runupon a troop;And by my GodI can leapover a wall.
"Do not rejoice,O Philistia,allof you, Becausethe rodthat struckyou is broken;For from the serpent'sroota viperwill comeout, And its fruitwill be a flyingserpent.
"So,having obtainedhelpfrom God,I standto thisdaytestifyingbothto smalland great,statingnothingbut whatthe Prophetsand Mosessaidwas goingto take place;
