"Do you not knowthat the LORDGodof Israelgavethe ruleoverIsraelforeverto Davidand his sonsby a covenantof salt?
So Joaband the peoplewhowere with him drewnearto the battleagainst the Arameans,and they fledbeforehim.
"Now the LORDhas fulfilledHis wordwhichHe spoke;for I have risenin placeof my fatherDavidand siton the throneof Israel,as the LORDpromised,and have builtthe housefor the nameof the LORD,the Godof Israel.
"Whenyour daysare fulfilledthat you must go[to be] with your fathers,that I will setup [one of] your descendantsafteryou, whowill be of your sons;and I will establishhis kingdom.
"But I will settlehim in My houseand in My kingdomforever,and his throneshall be establishedforever."'"
"Nowtherefore, O LORD,the Godof Israel,keepwith Your servantDavid,my father,that whichYou have promisedhim, saying,You shall not lacka manto siton the throneof Israel,ifonlyyour sonstakeheedto their way,to walkin My lawas you have walkedbeforeMe.'
Again I said,"The thingwhichyou are doingis not good;should you not walkin the fearof our Godbecauseof the reproachof the nations,our enemies?
Becausethey hatedknowledgeAnd did not choosethe fearof the LORD.
thenI would rejectthe descendantsof Jacoband DavidMy servant,not takingfrom his descendantsrulersoverthe descendantsof Abraham,Isaacand Jacob.But I will restoretheir fortunesand will havemercyon them.'"
You shall presentthem beforethe LORD,and the priestsshall throwsalton them, and they shall offerthem up as a burntofferingto the LORD.
"O king,the MostHighGodgrantedsovereignty,grandeur,gloryand majestyto Nebuchadnezzaryour father.
Everygrain offeringof yours, moreover, you shall seasonwith salt,so that the saltof the covenantof your Godshall not be lackingfrom your grain offering;with allyour offeringsyou shall offersalt.
"Allthe offeringsof the holy[gifts], whichthe sonsof Israelofferto the LORD,I have givento you and your sonsand your daughterswith you, as a perpetualallotment.It is an everlastingcovenantof saltbeforethe LORDto you and your descendantswith you."
For when they maintainthis,it escapes their noticethat by the wordof God[the] heavensexistedlong agoand [the] earthwas formedout of waterand by water,
Now the LORDsaidto Samuel,"Howlongwill you grieveoverSaul,since I have rejectedhim from beingkingoverIsrael?Fillyour hornwith oiland go;I will sendyou to Jessethe Bethlehemite,for I have selecteda kingfor Myself among his sons."
So he sentand broughthim in. Now he was ruddy,with beautifuleyesand a handsomeappearance.And the LORDsaid,"Arise,anointhim; for thisis he."
