The timethat Jeroboamreigned[was] twenty-twoyears;and he sleptwith his fathers,and Nadabhis sonreignedin his place.
He reignedthreeyearsin Jerusalem;and his mother'snamewas Maacahthe daughterof Abishalom.
Afterher he tookMaacahthe daughterof Absalom,and she borehim Abijah,Attai,Zizaand Shelomith.
Now the actsof Rehoboam,from firstto last,are they not writtenin the recordsof Shemaiahthe prophetand of Iddothe seer,according to genealogicalenrollment?And [there were] warsbetween Rehoboamand Jeroboamcontinually.
Abijahbeganthe battlewith an armyof valiantwarriors,400000chosenmen,while Jeroboamdrewup in battleformationagainsthim with 800,000chosenmen[who were] valiantwarriors.
and Zelah,Haelephand the Jebusite(that is, Jerusalem),Gibeah,Kiriath;fourteencitieswith their villages.Thisis the inheritanceof the sonsof Benjaminaccording to their families.
So they passedalongand wenttheir way, and the sunseton them nearGibeahwhichbelongs to Benjamin.
Then behold,an oldmanwas comingout of the fieldfrom his workat evening.Now the manwas from the hillcountryof Ephraim,and he was stayingin Gibeah,but the menof the placewere Benjamites.
Saulalsowentto his houseat Gibeah;and the valiant[men] whoseheartsGodhad touchedwentwith him.
