So Israelhas beenin rebellionagainst the houseof Davidto thisday.
When allIsrael[saw] that the kingdid not listento them the peopleansweredthe king,saying,"Whatportiondo we have in David?[We have] noinheritancein the sonof Jesse.Everymanto your tents,O Israel;Nowlookafter your own house,David."So allIsraeldepartedto their tents.
The poleswere so longthat the endsof the polesof the arkcould be seenin frontof the innersanctuary,but they could not be seenoutside;and they are thereto thisday.
"Sincethe daysof our fathersto thisdaywe [have been] in greatguilt,and on account of our iniquitieswe, our kings[and] our priestshave been giveninto the handof the kingsof the lands,to the sword,to captivityand to plunderand to openshame,as [it is] thisday.
"Ifhis sonsforsakeMy lawAnd do not walkin My judgments,
"And you, sonof man,takefor yourself onestickand writeon it, 'For Judahand for the sonsof Israel,his companions;then takeanotherstickand writeon it, 'For Joseph,the stickof Ephraimand allthe houseof Israel,his companions.'
They cameto the sonsof Reubenand to the sonsof Gadand to the half-tribeof Manasseh,to the landof Gilead,and they spokewith them saying,
Then Joshuasetup twelvestonesin the middleof the Jordanat the placewherethe feetof the priestswho carriedthe arkof the covenantwere standing,and they are thereto thisday.
