For with whatcould this[man] makehimself acceptableto his lord?[Would it] not [be] with the headsof thesemen?
From Manassehalso somedefectedto Davidwhen he was about to goto battlewith the PhilistinesagainstSaul.But they did not helpthem, for the lordsof the Philistinesafter consultationsenthim away,saying,"At [the cost of] our headshe may defectto his masterSaul."
As he wentto Ziklagthere defectedto him from Manasseh:Adnah,Jozabad,Jediael,Michael,Jozabad,Elihuand Zillethai,captainsof thousandswhobelonged to Manasseh.
"Come,let us dealwiselywith them, orelsethey will multiplyand in the eventof war,they will alsojointhemselves to those whohateus, and fightagainst us and departfrom the land."

So Achishgavehim Ziklagthat day;thereforeZiklaghasbelonged to the kingsof Judahto thisday.
But Achishrepliedto David,"I knowthat you are pleasingin my sight,like an angelof God;neverthelessthe commandersof the Philistineshave said,'He must not goup with us to the battle.'
Then it happenedwhen Davidand his mencameto Ziklagon the thirdday,that the Amalekiteshad madea raidon the Negevand on Ziklag,and had overthrownZiklagand burnedit with fire;
