So Ahabcameinto his housesullenand vexedbecauseof the wordwhichNaboththe Jezreelitehad spokento him; for he said,"I will not giveyou the inheritanceof my fathers."And he laydownon his bedand turnedawayhis faceand atenofood.
Now there camea daywhen Elishapassedoverto Shunem,wherethere was a prominentwoman,and she persuadedhim to eatfood.And so it was, as oftenas he passedby, he turnedin thereto eatfood.
Then his servantscamenearand spoketo him and said,"My father,had the prophettoldyou [to do some] greatthing,would you not have done[it]? Howmuchmore[then], whenhe saysto you, 'Wash,and be clean'?"
[There were hangings of] finewhiteand violetlinenheldby cordsof finepurplelinenon silverringsand marblecolumns,[and] couchesof goldand silveron a mosaicpavementof porphyry,marble,mother-of-pearland preciousstones.
[Like] one who takesoffa garmenton a coldday,[or like] vinegaron soda,Is he who singssongsto a troubledheart.
and you saton a splendidcouchwith a tablearrangedbeforeit on which you had setMy incenseand My oil.
"And the mastersaidto the slave,'Goout into the highwaysand along the hedges,and compel[them] to comein, sothat my housemay be filled.
But they urgedHim, saying,"Staywith us, for it is [getting] towardevening,and the dayis nownearly over."SoHe wentin to staywith them.
And whenshe and her householdhad been baptized,she urgedus, saying,"Ifyou have judgedme to be faithfulto the Lord,comeinto my houseand stay."And she prevailedupon us.
For the loveof Christcontrolsus, having concludedthis,that onediedfor all,thereforealldied;
"So nowalso,pleaselistento the voiceof your maidservant,and let me seta pieceof breadbeforeyou that [you may] eatand havestrengthwhenyou goon [your] way."
