Davidpersuadedhis menwith [these] wordsand did not allowthem to riseup againstSaul.And Saularose,leftthe cave,and wenton [his] way.
Then Davidsaidto him, "Howis it you were not afraidto stretchout your handto destroythe LORD'Sanointed?"
IfI have rewardedevilto my friend,Or have plunderedhim who withoutcausewas my adversary,
"But I sayto you, loveyour enemiesand prayfor thosewho persecuteyou,
"HereI am; bearwitnessagainst me beforethe LORDand His anointed.Whoseoxhave I taken,or whosedonkeyhave I taken,or whomhave I defrauded?Whomhave I oppressed,or from whosehandhave I takena bribeto blindmy eyeswith it? I will restore[it] to you."
So he saidto his men,"Farbe it from me becauseof the LORDthat I should dothisthingto my lord,the LORD'Sanointed,to stretchout my handagainst him, sincehe is the LORD'Sanointed."
Now afterwardDavidaroseand wentout of the caveand calledafterSaul,saying,"My lordthe king!"And when Saullookedbehindhim, Davidbowedwith his faceto the groundand prostratedhimself.
and blessedbe your discernment,and blessedbe you, whohave keptme thisdayfrom bloodshedand from avengingmyself by my own hand.
"The LORDwill repayeachman[for] his righteousnessand his faithfulness;for the LORDdeliveredyou into [my] handtoday,but I refusedto stretchout my handagainst the LORD'Sanointed.
But Davidsaidto Abishai,"Do not destroyhim, for whocan stretchout his handagainst the LORD'Sanointedand be withoutguilt?"
