All[the people of] the landenteredthe forest,and there was honeyon the ground.
"So I have comedownto deliverthem from the powerof the Egyptians,and to bringthem up from that landto a goodand spaciousland,to a landflowingwith milkand honey,to the placeof the Canaaniteand the Hittiteand the Amoriteand the Perizziteand the Hiviteand the Jebusite.
Have you foundhoney?Eat[only] whatyou need,That you not haveit in excessand vomitit.
Thus they toldhim, and said,"We wentin to the landwhereyou sentus; and it certainlydoes flowwith milkand honey,and thisis its fruit.
Otherwisethe landfrom whichYou broughtus may say,"Becausethe LORDwas not ableto bringthem into the landwhichHe had promisedthem and becauseHe hatedthem He has broughtthem out to slaythem in the wilderness."
So he scrapedthe honey into his handsand wenton, eatingas he went.When he cameto his fatherand mother,he gave[some] to them and they ate[it]; but he did not tellthem that he had scrapedthe honeyout of the bodyof the lion.
Now the menof Israelwere hard-pressedon that day,for Saulhad putthe peopleunderoath,saying,"Cursedbe the manwhoeatsfoodbeforeevening,and untilI have avengedmyself on my enemies."So noneof the peopletastedfood.
When the peopleenteredthe forest,behold,[there was] a flowof honey;but noman puthis handto his mouth,for the peoplefearedthe oath.
