It was toldKingSolomonthat Joabhad fledto the tentof the LORD,and behold,he is besidethe altar.Then SolomonsentBenaiahthe sonof Jehoiada,saying,"Go,fallupon him."
Benaiahthe sonof Jehoiadawas over the Cherethitesand the Pelethites;and David'ssonswere chiefministers.
So KingSolomonsentBenaiahthe sonof Jehoiada;and he fellupon him so that he died.
So Benaiahcameto the tentof the LORDand saidto him, "Thusthe kinghas said,'Comeout.'" But he said,"No,for I will diehere."And Benaiahbroughtthe kingwordagain,saying,"ThusspokeJoab,and thushe answeredme."
The kingsaidto him, "Doas he has spokenand fallupon him and buryhim, that you may removefrom me and from my father'shousethe bloodwhichJoabshedwithoutcause.
So the kingcommandedBenaiahthe sonof Jehoiada,and he wentout and fellupon him so that he died.Thus the kingdomwas establishedin the handsof Solomon.
"If,however, a manactspresumptuouslytowardhis neighbor,so as to killhim craftily,you are to takehim [even] from My altar,that he may die.
A manwho is ladenwith the guilt of humanbloodWill be a fugitiveuntildeath;let noone supporthim.
"Utterlyslayoldmen,youngmen,maidens,littlechildren,and women,but do not touchanymanon whomis the mark;and you shall startfrom My sanctuary."So they startedwith the elderswho[were] beforethe temple.
For [it is] timefor judgmentto beginwith the householdof God;and if[it] [begins] with us first,what[will be] the outcomefor thosewho do not obeythe gospelof God?
