Now Rehoboamthe sonof Solomonreignedin Judah.Rehoboamwas forty-oneyearsoldwhen he becameking,and he reignedseventeenyearsin Jerusalem,the citywhichthe LORDhad chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israelto putHis namethere.And his mother'snamewas Naamahthe Ammonitess.
But for David'ssakethe LORDhis Godgavehim a lampin Jerusalem,to raiseup his sonafterhim and to establishJerusalem;
sothat the LORDmay carryout His promisewhichHe spokeconcerningme, saying,Ifyour sonsare carefulof their way,to walkbeforeMe in truthwith alltheir heartand with alltheir soul,you shall not lacka manon the throneof Israel.'
that Your eyesmay be opentowardthishousenightand day,towardthe placeof whichYou have said,'My nameshall be there,'to listento the prayerwhichYour servantshall praytowardthisplace.
The LORDsaidto him, "I have heardyour prayerand your supplication,whichyou have madebeforeMe; I have consecratedthishousewhichyou have builtby puttingMy namethereforever,and My eyesand My heartwill be thereperpetually.
However, the LORDwas not willingto destroyJudah,for the sakeof DavidHis servant,sinceHe had promisedhim to givea lampto him through his sonsalways.
So KingRehoboamstrengthenedhimself in Jerusalemand reigned.NowRehoboamwas forty-oneyearsoldwhen he began to reign,and he reignedseventeenyearsin Jerusalem,the citywhichthe LORDhad chosenfrom allthe tribesof Israel,to putHis namethere.And his mother'snamewas Naamahthe Ammonitess.
Yet the LORDwas not willingto destroythe houseof Davidbecauseof the covenantwhichHe had madewith David,and sinceHe had promisedto givea lampto him and his sonsforever.
"ThereI will cause the hornof Davidto springforth;I have prepareda lampfor Mine anointed.
But you have cometo MountZionand to the cityof the livingGod,the heavenlyJerusalem,and to myriadsof angels,
And he carried me awayin the Spiritto a greatand highmountain,and showedme the holycity,Jerusalem,coming downout of heavenfrom God,
