Davidalso defeatedHadadezerkingof Zobah[as far as] Hamath,as he wentto establishhis ruleto the EuphratesRiver.
On that daythe LORDmadea covenantwith Abram,saying,"To your descendantsI have giventhisland,From the riverof Egyptas faras the greatriver,the riverEuphrates:
Now when the sonsof Ammonsawthat they had becomeodiousto David,the sonsof Ammonsentand hiredthe Arameansof Beth-rehoband the Arameansof Zobah,20000footsoldiers,and the kingof Maacahwith 1,000men,and the menof Tobwith 12,000men.
Then DaviddefeatedHadadezer,the sonof Rehobkingof Zobah,as he wentto restorehis ruleat the River.
He defeatedMoab,and the Moabitesbecameservantsto David,bringingtribute.
Davidtookfrom him 1,000chariotsand 7,000horsemenand 20,000footsoldiers,and Davidhamstrungallthe chariothorses,but reserved[enough] of them for 100chariots.
Then Solomonwentto Hamath-zobahand capturedit.
that mightykingshave ruledoverJerusalem,governingall[the provinces] beyondthe River,and that tribute,customand tollwere paidto them.
O God,You have rejectedus. You have brokenus; You have beenangry;O, restoreus.
You have made the landquake,You have splitit open;Healits breaches,for it totters.
"I will fixyour boundaryfrom the RedSeato the seaof the Philistines,and from the wildernessto the River[Euphrates]; for I will deliverthe inhabitantsof the landinto your hand,and you will drivethem out beforeyou.
Now when Saulhad takenthe kingdomoverIsrael,he foughtagainst allhis enemieson everyside,against Moab,the sonsof Ammon,Edom,the kingsof Zobah,and the Philistines;and whereverhe turned,he inflictedpunishment.
