Now there was a faminein the land;so Abramwentdownto Egyptto sojournthere,for the faminewas severein the land.
Now Abrahamjourneyedfrom theretoward the landof the Negev,and settledbetweenKadeshand Shur;then he sojournedin Gerar.
He said,"I am God,the Godof your father;do not be afraidto godownto Egypt,for I will makeyou a greatnationthere.
They tooktheir livestockand their property,whichthey had acquiredin the landof Canaan,and cameto Egypt,Jacoband allhis descendantswith him:
