He hadsevenhundredwives,princesses,and threehundredconcubines,and his wivesturnedhis heartaway.
And Davidrealizedthat the LORDhad establishedhim as kingoverIsrael,[and] that his kingdomwas highlyexalted,for the sakeof His peopleIsrael.
Theseare the namesof the childrenborn[to him] in Jerusalem:Shammua,Shobab,Nathan,Solomon,
"Of allmy sons(for the LORDhas givenme manysons),He has chosenmy sonSolomonto siton the throneof the kingdomof the LORDoverIsrael.
Enjoylifewith the womanwhomyou loveallthe daysof your fleetinglifewhichHe has givento you underthe sun; for thisis your rewardin lifeand in your toilin whichyou have laboredunderthe sun.
"Yet you say,'For whatreason?'Becausethe LORDhas been a witnessbetweenyou and the wifeof your youth,against whomyou have dealttreacherously,though she is your companionand your wifeby covenant.
He saidto them, "Becauseof your hardness of heartMosespermittedyou to divorceyour wives;but from the beginningit has not beenthis way.
"He shall not multiplywivesfor himself, orelsehis heartwill turnaway;norshall he greatlyincreasesilverand goldfor himself.
