Listen to me, you nations nearby or across the sea. I scattered the people of Israel, but I will gather them again. I will protect them like a shepherd guarding a flock;

The LORD rebuilds Jerusalem and brings the people of Israel back home again.

You, LORD, are my shepherd. I will never be in need.

Force the rulers of Tarshish and of the islands to pay taxes to him. Make the kings of Sheba and of Seba bring gifts.

You should take good care of your sheep and goats,

People in the west shout; they joyfully praise the majesty of the LORD.

The time is coming when the LORD will shake the land between the River Euphrates and the border of Egypt, and one by one he will bring all his people together.

Our God has said: “Encourage my people! Give them comfort.

The LORD cares for his nation, just as shepherds care for their flocks. He carries the lambs in his arms, while gently leading the mother sheep.

Be silent and listen, every island in the sea. Have courage and come near, every one of you nations. Let's settle this matter!

Tell the whole world to sing a new song to the LORD! Tell those who sail the ocean and those who live far away to join in the praise.

He won't stop or give up until he brings justice everywhere on earth, and people in foreign nations long for his teaching.

Now leave Babylon! Celebrate as you go. Be happy and shout for everyone to hear, “The LORD has rescued his servant Israel!

I rejected you for a while, but with love and tenderness I will embrace you again.

On those distant islands your people are waiting for me, the LORD. Seagoing ships lead the way to bring them home with their silver and gold. I, the holy LORD God of Israel, do this to honour your people, so they will honour me.

by proving what I can do. I will send the survivors to Tarshish, Pul, Lud, Meshech, Tubal, Javan, and to the distant islands. I will send them to announce my wonderful glory to nations that have never heard about me.

I promise to choose leaders who will care for them like real shepherds. All my people will be there, and they will never again be frightened.

and to the kings of Tyre, Sidon, and their colonies across the sea.

Then I'll appoint wise rulers who will obey me, and they will care for you like shepherds.

Israel is a flock of sheep scattered by hungry lions. The king of Assyria first gobbled Israel up. Then Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylonia, crunched on Israel's bones.

But I will bring Israel back to its own land. The people will be like sheep eating their fill on Mount Carmel and in Bashan, in the hill country of Ephraim and in Gilead.

But here is what I want you to tell the Israelites in Babylonia: It's true that I, the LORD God, have forced you out of your own country and made you live among foreign nations. But for now, I will be with you wherever you are, so that you can worship me.

and my power, when I gather you from the places where you are scattered

just as a shepherd looks for lost sheep. My sheep have been lost since that dark and miserable day when they were scattered throughout the nations. But I will rescue them

After you attack the brick that stands for Jerusalem, burn one pile of your hair on the brick. Chop up the second pile and let the small pieces of hair fall around the brick. Throw the third pile into the wind, and I will strike it with my own sword.

Afterwards, this proud king of the north will invade and conquer many of the nations along the coast, but a military leader will defeat him and make him lose his pride.

After I destroy your towns and ruin your land with war, I'll scatter you among the nations.

I, the LORD, promise to bring together the people of Israel who have survived. I will gather them, just as a shepherd brings sheep together, and there will be many.

The LORD said: At that time I will gather my people— the lame and the outcasts, and all into whose lives I have brought sorrow.

Like a shepherd taking care of his sheep, this ruler will lead and care for his people by the power and glorious name of the LORD his God. His people will live securely, and the whole earth will know his true greatness,

I will fiercely attack. Then every god on this earth will shrink to nothing, and everyone of every nation will bow down to me, right where they are.

I will punish those who ill-treat you. I will bring together the lame and the outcasts, then they will be praised, instead of despised, in every country on earth.

I will give a signal for them to come together because I have rescued them. And there will be as many as ever before.

The LORD says to his people, “Run! Escape from the land in the north, where I scattered you to the four winds.

The LORD God will save them on that day, because they are his people, and they will shine on his land like jewels in a crown.

My little group of disciples, don't be afraid! Your Father wants to give you the kingdom.

My sheep know my voice, and I know them. They follow me,

Yet Jesus would not die just for the Jewish nation. He would die to bring together all God's scattered people.

“I wanted to scatter you, so no one would remember that you had ever lived.
