Jesus answered, “What did Moses command you?”
But in response, he said to them, "What did Moses instruct you?"
But he answering, saith to them: What did Moses command you?
To the teaching and to the testimony! Surely for this word which they speak there is no dawn.
And Pharisees came up and in order to test him asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?”
They said, “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to put her away.”
And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me;
Tell me, you who desire to be under law, do you not hear the law?
