Those who mock the poor insult their Maker; those who are glad at calamity will not go unpunished.
Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and will be repaid in full.
What is desirable in a person is loyalty, and it is better to be poor than a liar.
If the poor are hated even by their kin, how much more are they shunned by their friends! When they call after them, they are not there.
Do you see people wise in their own eyes? There is more hope for fools than for them.
Answer fools according to their folly, lest they be wise in their own eyes.
Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes and shrewd in their own sight!
I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear me for all time, for their own good and the good of their children after them.
And you, do you seek great things for yourself? Do not seek them, for I am going to bring disaster upon all flesh, says the Lord, but I will give you your life as a prize of war in every place to which you may go.”
