When God began to create the heavens and the earth,


“Is not God high in the heavens? See the highest stars, how lofty they are!


Is there any number to his armies? Upon whom does his light not arise?


If even the moon is not bright and the stars are not pure in his sight,


“Remember to extol his work, of which mortals have sung.


You have made the moon to mark the seasons; the sun knows its time for setting.


Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.


Praise him, sun and moon; praise him, all you shining stars!


The heavens are telling the glory of God, and the firmament proclaims his handiwork.


By the word of the Lord the heavens were made and all their host by the breath of his mouth.


The heavens are yours; the earth also is yours; the world and all that is in it—you founded them.


When God finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the covenant, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.

And when you look up to the heavens and see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, do not be led astray and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples everywhere under heaven.
