And Moses said, “When the Lord gives you meat to eat in the evening and your fill of bread in the morning, because the Lord has heard the complaining that you utter against him—what are we? Your complaining is not against us but against the Lord.”
The righteous have enough to satisfy their appetite, but the belly of the wicked is empty.
When I cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in a single oven, and they shall dole out your bread by weight, and though you eat, you shall not be satisfied.
You have sown much and harvested little; you eat, but you never have enough; you drink, but you never have your fill; you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; and you that earn wages earn wages to put them into a bag with holes.
And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.
The disciples said to him, “Where are we to get enough bread in the desert to feed so great a crowd?”
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
And all ate and were filled, and what was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.
Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii would not buy enough bread for each of them to get a little.”
