What will you do on the day of punishment, in the calamity that will come from far away? To whom will you flee for help, and where will you leave your wealth,


Among the smooth stones of the valley is your portion; it is they who are your lot; to them you have poured out a drink offering; you have brought a grain offering. Should these acts cause me to relent?


They have made it a desolation; desolate, it mourns to me. The whole land is made desolate, but no one lays it to heart.


How long will the land mourn and the grass of every field wither? For the wickedness of those who live in it, the animals and the birds are swept away, and because people said, “He is blind to our ways.”


I looked, and there was no one at all, and all the birds of the air had fled.

Fallen, no more to rise, is maiden Israel; forsaken on her land, with no one to raise her up.
