Do not remember against us the iniquities of our ancestors; let your compassion come speedily to meet us, for we are brought very low.
Do not be exceedingly angry, O Lord, and do not remember iniquity forever. Now consider, we are all your people.
For your gods have become as many as your towns, O Judah, and as many as the streets of Jerusalem are the altars to shame you have set up, altars to make offerings to Baal.
Thus says the Lord concerning this people: Truly they have loved to wander; they have not restrained their feet; therefore the Lord does not accept them; now he will remember their iniquity and punish their sins.
because of all the evil of the people of Israel and the people of Judah that they did to provoke me to anger—they, their kings and their officials, their priests and their prophets, the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
Instead, we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the queen of heaven and pour out libations to her, just as we and our ancestors, our kings and our officials, used to do in the towns of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. We used to have plenty of food and prospered and saw no misfortune.
Then Jeremiah said to all the people, men and women, all the people who were giving him this answer:
Have you forgotten the crimes of your ancestors, of the kings of Judah, of their wives, your own crimes and those of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?
you built yourself a platform and made yourself a lofty place in every square;
But they do not consider that I remember all their wickedness. Now their deeds surround them; they are before my face.
The Lord has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.
The great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. God remembered great Babylon and gave her the wine cup of the fury of his wrath.
for her sins are heaped high as heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
Now go and attack Amalek and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.”
