For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with victory.


As for the holy ones in the land, they are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.


But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me; my Lord has forgotten me.”


Shout for joy, O barren one who has borne no children; burst into song and shout, you who have not been in labor! For the children of the desolate woman will be more than the children of the one who is married, says the Lord.


Whereas you have been forsaken and hated, with no one passing through, I will make you majestic forever, a joy from age to age.


Violence shall no more be heard in your land, devastation or destruction within your borders; you shall call your walls Salvation and your gates Praise.


I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; my whole being shall exult in my God, for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation; he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with a garland and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.


They shall be called, “The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord,” and you shall be called, “Sought Out, A City Not Forsaken.”


The nations shall see your vindication and all the kings your glory, and you shall be called by a new name that the mouth of the Lord will give.


For as a young man marries a young woman, so shall your builder marry you, and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.


I will rejoice in Jerusalem and delight in my people; no more shall the sound of weeping be heard in it or the cry of distress.


Return, O faithless children, says the Lord, for I am your husband; I will take you, one from a city and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.


I will rejoice in doing good to them, and I will plant them in this land in faithfulness, with all my heart and all my soul.

And they will say, “This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden, and the waste and desolate and ruined towns are now inhabited and fortified.”


On that day I will answer, says the Lord, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth,


and the earth shall answer the grain, the wine, and the oil, and they shall answer Jezreel,


The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing


Then all nations will count you happy, for you will be a land of delight, says the Lord of hosts.


He who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom who stands and hears him rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. For this reason my joy has been fulfilled.


I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I promised you in marriage to one husband, to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.


and the Lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all your undertakings, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your soil. For the Lord will again take delight in prospering you, just as he delighted in prospering your ancestors,


Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for he himself has said, “I will never leave you or forsake you.”


Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.


And I saw the holy city, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
