29 He who has the bride is the bridegroom. The friend of the bridegroom who stands and hears him rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice. For this reason my joy has been fulfilled.

I feel a divine jealousy for you, for I promised you in marriage to one husband, to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.


make my joy complete: be of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.


We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.


Although I have much to write to you, I would rather not use paper and ink; instead, I hope to come to you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.
