The Lord has punished me severely, but he did not give me over to death.
I know, O Lord, that your judgments are right and that in faithfulness you have humbled me.
For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, yet I have not forgotten your statutes.
Happy are those whom you discipline, O Lord, and whom you teach out of your law,
My child, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments,
Get wisdom; get insight: do not forget nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Indeed, I heard Ephraim pleading: “You disciplined me, and I took the discipline; I was like an untrained calf. Bring me back; let me come back, for you are the Lord my God.
Why should any who draw breath complain about the punishment of their sins?
But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest time, if we do not give up.
among them are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have turned over to Satan, so that they may be taught not to blaspheme.
Endure trials for the sake of discipline. God is treating you as children, for what child is there whom a parent does not discipline?
I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written to you briefly.
Blessed is anyone who endures temptation. Such a one has stood the test and will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
I reprove and discipline those whom I love. Be earnest, therefore, and repent.
