Hear this, all you peoples; give ear, all inhabitants of the world,


He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people:


Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth, for the Lord has spoken: I reared children and brought them up, but they have rebelled against me.


Draw near, O nations, to hear; O peoples, give heed! Let the earth hear and all that fills it, the world and all that comes from it.


Be appalled, O heavens, at this; be shocked; be utterly desolate, says the Lord,


O land, land, land, hear the word of the Lord!


Hear, O earth; I am going to bring disaster on this people, the fruit of their schemes, because they have not given heed to my words, and as for my teaching, they have rejected it.


I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live,


Now, therefore, write this song, and teach it to the Israelites; put it in their mouths, in order that this song may be a witness for me against the Israelites.


Assemble to me all the elders of your tribes and your officials, so that I may recite these words in their hearing and call heaven and earth to witness against them.


Then Moses recited the words of this song, to the very end, in the hearing of the whole assembly of Israel:


I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that you will soon utterly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to occupy; you will not live long on it but will be utterly destroyed.
