then we weighed anchor and came to Rhegium. After one day there a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we came to Puteoli.


The brothers and sisters from there, when they heard of us, came as far as the Forum of Appius and Three Taverns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and took courage.


They replied, “We have received no letters from Judea about you, and none of the brothers coming here has reported or spoken anything evil about you.


Therefore, brothers and sisters, select from among yourselves seven men of good standing, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may appoint to this task,


When the brothers and sisters learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.


I do not want you to be unaware, brothers and sisters, that I have often intended to come to you (but thus far have been prevented), in order that I may reap some harvest among you, as I have among the rest of the gentiles.
