You should also look for able men among all the people, men who fear God, are trustworthy, and hate dishonest gain; set them as officers over thousands, hundreds, fifties, and tens.


For they are well instructed; their God teaches them.


and a spirit of justice to the one who sits in judgment and strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.


But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters.

They answered, “Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man who is well spoken of by the whole Jewish people, was directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and to hear what you have to say.”

He was well spoken of by the brothers and sisters in Lystra and Iconium.


All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability.


“A certain Ananias, who was a devout man according to the law and well spoken of by all the Jews living there,


There we found brothers and sisters and were invited to stay with them for seven days. And so we came to Rome.


And the twelve called together the whole community of the disciples and said, “It is not right that we should neglect the word of God in order to wait on tables.


What they said pleased the whole community, and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, together with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch.


They had these men stand before the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.


When the brothers and sisters learned of it, they brought him down to Caesarea and sent him off to Tarsus.


To one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,


And when I arrive, I will send any whom you approve with letters to take your gift to Jerusalem.


Do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,


Choose for each of your tribes individuals who are wise, discerning, and reputable, and I will make them your leaders.’


she must be well attested for her good works, as one who has brought up children, shown hospitality, washed the saints’ feet, helped the afflicted, and devoted herself to doing good in every way.


Every generous act of giving, with every perfect gift, is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.


Everyone has testified favorably about Demetrius, and so has the truth itself. We also testify for him, and you know that our testimony is true.
