Jehu said to his aide Bidkar, “Lift him out and throw him on the plot of ground belonging to Naboth the Jezreelite, for remember when you and I rode side by side behind his father Ahab how the Lord uttered this oracle against him:
In the time of his distress he became yet more faithless to the Lord—this same King Ahaz.
The people did not turn to him who struck them or seek the Lord of hosts.
O Lord, do your eyes not look for truth? You have struck them, but they felt no anguish; you have consumed them, but they refused to take correction. They have made their faces harder than rock; they have refused to turn back.
They covet fields and seize them, houses and take them away; they oppress householder and house, people and their inheritance.
Then all the Midianites and the Amalekites and the people of the east came together, and they crossed over and encamped in the Valley of Jezreel.
Now the Philistines gathered all their forces at Aphek, while the Israelites were encamped by the spring that is in Jezreel.
