I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law.


Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the LORD.


When I remember thee upon my bed, And meditate on thee in the night watches.


The days of our years are threescore years and ten; And if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, Yet is their strength labour and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.


Train up a child in the way he should go: And when he is old, he will not depart from it.


I love them that love me; And those that seek me early shall find me.


Therefore remove sorrow from thy heart, and put away evil from thy flesh: for childhood and youth are vanity.

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.


But Samuel ministered before the LORD, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.


And the child Samuel grew on, and was in favour both with the LORD, and also with men.
