For nation will be raised up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and disturbances. These [are] the beginnings of birth pangs.


But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and they will persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and prisons. You will be brought before kings and rulers on account of My name.


For when they say, "Peace and safety!"then sudden destruction comes upon them, just as labor pains upon the woman that is pregnant, and they shall by no means escape.


Listen now, you rich, weep and howl at your miseries which are coming upon you!
