He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee [i.e., James and John] with Him, and [soon] began to be grieved and very distressed.
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, over near the Temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked Him privately,
He did not allow anyone to follow Him [i.e., to the official’s house] except Peter, James and his brother John.
And when Jesus came to the [synagogue official’s] house, He did not allow anyone to enter with Him except Peter, James, John and the girl’s father and mother.
This will be my third visit to you. [Deut. 19:15 says], “Every matter should be settled by the testimony of two or three witnesses.”
For we did not use cleverly conceived stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, because we were eyewitnesses of His Majesty [i.e., the apostles had personally seen the miraculous power of Jesus].
And we heard this voice coming from heaven when we were with Him in the holy mountain.
