If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me, and plead against me my reproach,

If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me, and plead against me my reproach,
Let those who are rejoicing at my evil Be ashamed and abashed altogether; Let those who are exalting themselves over me Be clad in shame and humiliation.
For I said, “Otherwise they would rejoice over me, When my foot slips they would exalt themselves over me.”
It is not an enemy who reproaches me – That I could bear; Nor one who hates me who is making himself great against me – Then I could hide from him.
יהוה of hosts has counselled it, to defile the pride of all splendour, and to shame all the esteemed of the earth.
“Thus said יהוה, ‘See, I turn back the captivity of Ya‛aqoḇ’s tents, and have compassion on his dwelling places. And the city shall be built upon its own mound, and the palace stand on its right place.
“In that day I shall raise up the Booth of Dawiḏ which has fallen down. And I shall repair its breaches and raise up its ruins. And I shall build it as in the days of old,
So it was broken on that day. And the poor of the flock, who were watching me, knew that it was the word of יהוה.
And he answered and said to me, “This is the word of יהוה to Zerubbaḇel, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ said יהוה of hosts.
In that hour יהושע exulted in the Spirit and said, “I praise You, Father, Master of the heaven and of the earth, that You have hidden these matters from clever and learned ones, and did reveal them to babes. Yes, Father, because thus it was well-pleasing in Your sight.
Where, then, is the boasting? It is shut out. By what torah? Of works? No, but by the torah of belief.
Listen, my beloved brothers: Has Elohim not chosen the poor of this world, rich in belief and heirs of the reign which He promised to those who love Him?
But He gives greater favour. Because of this He says, “Elohim resists the proud, but gives favour to the humble.”
