You have disowned the covenant of Your servant, You have defiled his diadem in the dust.
Thou hast made void the covenant of thy servant: Thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
You have despised and loathed and renounced the covenant with Your servant; You have profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
Thou hast abhorred the covenant of thy servant: Thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.
You’ve canceled the covenant with your servant. You’ve thrown his crown in the dirt.
I said in my haste, “All men are liars.”
For the enemy has pursued my being; He has crushed my life to the ground; He has made me dwell in dark places, Like the dead of old.
You make us turn back from the adversary, And those who hate us have plundered us.
You have let Your people see hardship; You have made us drink the wine of trembling.
They have set fire to Your set-apart place, They have profaned the dwelling place of Your Name to the ground.
And I said, “This is my grief: That the right hand of the Most High has changed.”
You have brought an end to his splendour, And have hurled his throne to the ground.
And the high stronghold of your walls He shall bring down, lay it low, levelled to the ground, down to the dust.
“So I have profaned the chief ones of the set-apart place, and I have delivered up Ya‛aqoḇ to the curse, and Yisra’ĕl to scorn.
The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
