For I have become like a wineskin in the smoke, Your laws I have not forgotten.


“See, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and innocent as doves.


“Neither do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins burst, and the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.”


And no one puts new wine into old wineskins, otherwise the new wine bursts the wineskins, and the wine runs out, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine is to be put into fresh wineskins.


“And the master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly, because the sons of this age are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.


“This bread of ours we took hot for our provision from our houses on the day that we left to come to you. But now, see, it is dry and it is crumby.


“And these wineskins which we filled were new, and see, they are torn. And these our garments and our sandals have become old because of the very long journey.”


And the inhabitants of Giḇ‛on heard what Yehoshua had done to Yeriḥo and Ai,


and old and patched sandals on their feet, and old garments on themselves. And all the bread of their provision was dry, it was crumbs.
