And it came to be, when the sun went down and it was dark, that see, a smoking oven and a burning torch passing between those pieces.


And it came to be, in the course of time, that Qayin brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to יהוה.


“And you shall call on the name of your mighty one, and I, I call on the Name of יהוה. And the Elohim who answers by fire, He is Elohim.” So all the people answered and said, “The word is good.”


Then the fire of יהוה fell and consumed the ascending offering, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench.


And Dawiḏ built there a slaughter-place to יהוה, and offered ascending offerings and peace offerings, and called on יהוה. And He answered him from the heavens by fire on the slaughter-place of ascending offering.


And when Shelomoh had ended praying, fire came down from the heavens and consumed the ascending offering and the slaughterings. And the esteem of יהוה filled the House.


He does remember all your offerings, And does accept your ascending offering! Selah.


that you shall give over to יהוה every one opening the womb, and every first-born that comes from your livestock, the males belong to יהוה.

and fire came out from before יהוה and consumed the ascending offering and the fat on the slaughter-place. And all the people saw and cried aloud and fell on their faces.


And Mosheh became very displeased, and said to יהוה, “Do not respect their offering. I have not taken one donkey from them, nor have I done harm to any of them.”

“All the best of the oil, and all the best of the new wine and the grain – their first-fruits which they give to יהוה – I have given them to you.


“But the first-born of a cow, or the first-born of a sheep, or the first-born of a goat you do not ransom, they are set-apart. Sprinkle their blood on the slaughter-place, and burn their fat as an offering made by fire for a sweet fragrance to יהוה.


By belief, Heḇel offered to Elohim a greater slaughter offering than Qayin, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, Elohim witnessing of his gifts. And through it, having died, he still speaks.


And, according to the Torah, almost all is cleansed with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.


And all those dwelling on the earth, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the slain Lamb, from the foundation of the world shall worship him.


And the Messenger of יהוה put forth the end of the staff that was in His hand, and touched the meat and the unleavened bread. And fire went up out of the rock and consumed the meat and the unleavened bread. And the Messenger of יהוה went from his sight.


Then Shemu’ĕl said, “Does יהוה delight in ascending offerings and slaughterings, as in obeying the voice of יהוה? Look, to obey is better than a slaughtering, to heed is better than the fat of rams.
