1 Chronicles 28:4 - The Scriptures 2009

“Yet יהוה Elohim of Yisra’ĕl chose me above all the house of my father to be sovereign over Yisra’ĕl forever, for He has chosen Yehuḏah to be the ruler. And of the house of Yehuḏah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father, He was pleased with me to make me reign over all Yisra’ĕl.

And all the elders of Yisra’ĕl came to the sovereign at Ḥeḇron, and Sovereign Dawiḏ made a covenant with them at Ḥeḇron before יהוה. And they anointed Dawiḏ sovereign over Yisra’ĕl.


“And now, O יהוה, the word which You have spoken concerning Your servant and concerning his house, let it stand fast forever, and do as You have said.


“And now, You have been pleased to bless the house of Your servant to be before You forever. For You have blessed it, O יהוה, and it is blessed forever.”


for Yehuḏah prevailed over his brothers, and from him came a ruler, although the birthright was Yosĕph’s –


But I have chosen Yerushalayim, for My Name to be there. And I have chosen Dawiḏ to be over My people Yisra’ĕl.’

For it is perfectly clear that our Master arose from Yehuḏah, a tribe about which Mosheh never spoke of concerning priesthood,


And יהוה said to Shemu’ĕl, “How long are you going to mourn for Sha’ul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Yisra’ĕl? Fill your horn with oil, and go, I am sending you to Yishai the Bĕyth Leḥemite. For I have seen among his sons a sovereign for Myself.”


And the Ziphites came to Sha’ul at Giḇ‛ah, saying, “Is not Dawiḏ hiding himself in the hill of Ḥaḵilah, overlooking the wasteland?”
