and with them their brothers of the second rank: Zeḵaryahu, Bĕn, and Ya‛azi’ĕl, and Shemiramoth, and Yeḥi’ĕl, and Unni, Eliyaḇ, and Benayahu, and Ma‛asĕyahu, and Mattithyahu, and Eliphelĕhu, and Miqnĕyahu, and Oḇĕḏ-Eḏom, and Ye‛i’ĕl, the gatekeepers;
and four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand to give praise to יהוה, “which I made for giving praise.”
And the sons of Meshelemyahu: Zeḵaryahu the first-born, Yeḏiya’ĕl the second, Zeḇaḏyahu the third, Yathni’ĕl the fourth,
And of the Lĕwites: Shemayah son of Ḥashshuḇ, son of Azriqam, son of Ḥashaḇyah, of the sons of Merari;
And he set the gatekeepers at the gates of the House of יהוה, so that no one who was in any way unclean should enter.
And according to the ruling of Dawiḏ his father, he appointed the divisions of the priests for their service, the Lĕwites for their duties, to praise and serve before the priests, as the duty of each day required, and the gatekeepers by their divisions at each gate, for so was the command of Dawiḏ the man of Elohim.
O Elohim, we have heard with our ears, Our fathers have related to us, The work You did in their days, In the days of old.
Hear this, all you peoples; Give ear, all you inhabitants of the world,
“And they were attendants in My set-apart place, as gatekeepers of the house and attendants of the house, slaying the ascending offering and the slaughtering for the people, and standing before them to attend to them.
